Somali Women's Refugee Centre

The main aim of the training and employment project is to provide employment training. The project targets women who are unemployed and are living in Ealing.

Courses lead to qualifications in NVQ's Level 1 and 2 or RSA.

The project provides training in:

• Computing and information technology
• Job search and presentation skills
• English language
• Starting your own business
• Dress making and knitting

The following training support is also available to trainees:

• Crèche and childcare facilities

• Information about further education and training opportunities for adults

To ensure that the courses are accessible and affordable these are provided free of charge to trainees, with additional support such as child care facilities.

However, the most important aspect of the training on offer is that training programs are customised to match the need and ability of each trainee.

The staff provide a stable and comfortable training environment where the trainees are able to feel confident with each activity they undertake. This is a valued feature of the training program on offer for the trainees.
